Homes
(by Ernesto Collado)

"The term “home” (from the old Norwegian term heimr, the old German term heim, the Greek komi, meaning “a people”) has been appropriated from time and beyond by two types of moralists, both highly considered by those who hold the power. The notion of “home” became the basis of a code of domestic morality whereby family properties, women included, were safeguarded. At the same time, the notion of homeland consolidated a patriotism that served to convince men to die in wars that mostly served the interests of a minority that belonged to the ruling class. In both cases the use of the term conceals its original meaning."
